This song teaches us to let go of the past, to let go of what is stopping us from growing emotionally and spiritually. We are beings that are evolving all the time, our path is our own only and sometimes we get stuck in life. Not because we reached the end of our evolution but because without knowing it, sometimes we stop our evolution ourselves.
The reason for that is that we don't let go. We hold on to memories, we hold on to people, we hold on to habits, and all of this is stopping us from reaching our true potential. To let go is to learn how to become a new person and reinvent ourselves. To love someone is also to learn to let go so that person can also reach their true potential.
Holding on to destructive relationships will lead to unhappiness on both sides. It is part of the journey, it is painful at the start but it becomes a magical process as we discover a whole new world within and we finally realize that the pain was worth it. As the song says, we usually realize that we miss something once we have lost it, but do we truly lose the people we love? Do we truly lose the sun when winter is here? Do we truly lose the light when darkness is around?
No, we never lose these things, they are always there, we just lose our way and we need to walk our path until we find it again. People we love will always be there despite separations.
